Post specific moments of epic musical masterpieces that you've watched/experienced.
We have our own taste and preference for music, but sometimes even styles and genres that we don't notice sometimes becomes epic given the right mood and situation.

I rarely watch American Idol. But when my sister was watching the show yesterday, David Cook sang Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" with violin background and his own vocal style. It was epic. And even Simon was praising him.

Another epic moment is the scene where Johnny Depp raised his shaving knife in the movie Sweeney Todd and said "At last, my arm is complete again!" Then it was followed by dark, strong orchestra music. I think the loud sounds in the movie theater made it seem epic to my ears hehe.

epic: May 27, 1977. The release of Sex Pistol's "God Save the Queen". It was aimed as an insult to Queen Elizabeth II on her silver jubilee. Its created commotion that opened many eyes and angered many citizens. It's repercussions caused the lead singer, Johnny Lydon, to get stabbed both in his left leg and arm. Until now the song is a main stay in England's culture. It leaves the choice of believing their lyrics or just enjoying them.

Yeah, but I think his most epic performance was "Always Be My Baby" during Mariah Carey week. I think his version is even better than the original. XD Gawd, most of the people I know who don't watch Idol suddenly want more of David Cook haha ^^;;

Yep, I agree with what you all said about The Phantom of the Opera. *shudders*

Star Wars Ep. III, during the scene when Anakin's being transformed to Darth Vader. The orchestral background music was quite chilling haha. The manipulation of silence after his breath-mask was finally put is even more epic 'cause we hear only his famous inhale-exhale action. LOL ^^

Tifa's battle with Loz in FFVII: Advent Children, too. The musical score is just awesome, the piano reaching like a crescendo.

epic moment in music: Listening to Dragonforce. Especially when I first heard "Fury of the Storm" and "Through the Fire and Flames". Now that's what I call fast pitched rock music. And the vocalist sounds like Bon Jovi. Talk about awesome. The guitars are literally screeching and completely fast paced. Sometimes they almost sounded like they came from video games. And the drums are fast and magnificent.

once you start listening to some epic/fantasy metal bands, I'm sure you'll want moar.

EPIC ERA FOR MUSIC: 90's

Filipino bands such as the EHeads, Rivermaya, The Teeth, Razorback, Wolfgang, etc. came into the limelight and proved once more that Filipinos do have greatness in them esp when musically speaking

Can't say it's epic, but I do regard the band Iron Maiden as a revolutionary icon of transforming the heavy metal scene into what it is today.

And with due respect to Anon-man, hands down when it comes to Wolfgang. If you want a heavy metal Filipino band, then jive over to this one.

Ah, OPM music of the 90's is very unforgettable. Lalo na eraserheads nung buo pa sila at Rivermaya when Bamboo was still part of it. Unforgettable indeed. Ain't it nostalgic to listen to their old yet good songs once in a while? ^^

A lot of Epic moments in music, I can classify with the adjective "eargasm"

Basically, it's when a song hits so deep and so hard that you feel that it no longer is a song, but becomes part of your soul...
In other words, it's a song that makes you feel really really good, but only for a short period of time....

I've heard quite a few songs that have been able to give me an "eargasm", namely:
Maria (Akira Yamaoka)
Shonen A (Shounen Radio)
four pieces heaven (LION)

And a few others that escape my mind =P
